Later green morocco gilt, covers with triple-fillet and small drawer-handle tool border, spines in six compartments with raised bands, lettered in the second and third, the others with repeat pattern composed from various small tools, gilt turn-ins, gilt edges, by Riviere & Son (light scuffing to lower edge of boards). A FINELY PRESENTED WORK WITH NEARLY 500 ADDITIONAL PLATES. The plates include include 74 (of 76) hand-coloured aquatints from Boydell's Thames (cf. Abbey Scenery 432, lacking Abbey nos. 71 and 72), 62 (of the set of 64) hand-coloured aquatint views from Ackermann's Oxford (cf. Abbey Scenery 278), 9 plates from Ackermann's Microcosm , tinted aquatints by Samuel Ireland (from Pictureque Views on the River Thames ), steel-engravings from Tombleson's Thames and numerous other part series (a series of etchings by David Law signed in pencil) and some outstanding individual prints, including a view of Chelsea by James McNeil Whistler and Robert Havell's rare folding hand-coloured aquatint panoramic view of London, titled 'An Aeronautical View of London' (340 x 1090mm.), dated 20 April 1836.
