Views of Country Seats of the Royal Family, Nobility and Gentry of England. London: R. Ackerman, 1830. 2 volumes, 8vo (239 x 145 mm). [2 blank], viii, 136, [2 blank]; [2 blank], vi, 136, [2 blank] pp. 146 hand-colored aquatint plates after Westall, Gendall, Shepherd and others. Contemporary half calf over marbled boards, spines with richly gilt decorations, gilt titles and embossed thistles, marbled page edges. Plate 71 of Tor Abbey with printed label "Seat of George Cary ESQ RE " tipped above "Seat of Stanley Carey(sic) ESQ R ", Tooley 13 does not mention this correction. Some light offsetting, infrequent light spotting, joints cracked but holding, small chips to head of spine, general shelf wear. Provenance: Madam Ontyd (bookplates). FIRST EDITION. A rare and beautiful work, not seen at auction for 29 years; Worldcat shows only 1 copy held worldwide. Tooley 13.
