A collection of approximately 47 abstracts, receipts and other documents recording payment, with correspondence, relating to payments from the quarterly contingent account of John Matson as President of Dominica, 1796-1800, including paylists for the Loyal Dominica Regiment (10), payments for repairs to Government House (3), for the relief of distressed emigrants from Guadaloupe (4), a number recording payments to Matson's secretary, John Matson Jr; a few letters of 1815 relating to the execution of Matson's estate; DOMINICA, BARBADOS. A collection of approximately 31 letters and documents, 1767-1802, the majority addressed to Samuel White of [Marblehead], Massachussets, and relating to trade in cod fish, rum and brandy from Barbados and Dominica;Dominica, 12 February 1824, relating his confrontation with the Governor and House of Assembly, after an accusation of fraud, and that he was the 'Cause of all & every trouble, vexation &cc in the colony', 4 pages, folio , integral address leaf.
