A fine letter in which Wellington comments on European affairs shortly before Napoleon's return to France and the Battle of Waterloo. He writes: "all sense of morality & justice, and all ideas of honour excepting of that which is more properly called courage...have been replaced by the stupidest, grossest & lowest order of selfishness...The French by their revolutions & their military operations have certainly ruined the world; but I must say that bad as is the situation of other countries their own is...worse." -- WELLINGTON.
