CGC certified: VG- (3.5). Off-white pages. Bernard Baily cover. Tony Mortellaro, Hy Fleishman and Eugene Hughes art. Weird Tales of the Future is a Stanley Morse sci-fi / horror hybrid valued by pre-Code buffs for its profusion of Baily covers and occasional Wolverton art. No Wolverton in this ish, alas, but there's a nice alien captivity cover by Bernard Baily. The aliens wear pressurized helmets and the humans do not; only the hardiest will survive to board the slave ship. As the captives are whisked into space, Earth explodes. In the idealistic Golden Age, kids dreamt of rocketing to Earth from Krypton. In the pre-Code era, the dream became a nightmare; the rocket was coming to kill you, and in place of Krypton, the earth itself has become a crypt. CGC census: This is the only 3.5 copy. Comparable CGC sales: Three recorded sales in the past five years: 4.5 copy: $528 (April 2019); a 6.0 copy reached $1736 in May 2016, and a 5.0 copy hit $454 in Feb. 2015.
