The artist wrote: 'Bridal Morning', is an impression of a wedding party just leaving the bride's home, after the wedding breakfast. That the bridegroom is a well-to-do artisan is indicated by the fact that he can afford to have a 'taxi' for the wedding journey, whilst the cheerful interest shown by the assembled crowd of neighbours, is proof that even in a dingy city street 'all the world loves a lover'. 1 An oil of the same scene titled 'The Wedding' was reproduced in the art magazine Colour (Nov/Dec Vol. 19.4-5 1923).
