[WATSON, BILL] Photograph album. Cover title: Ode to a Fisherman. N.p.: circa 1940. Wooden frame with wooden rear cover. 9 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches; manuscript poem with hand-drawn border, 46 gelatin silver prints with manuscript captions, maps, newsclippings. Evenly toned, a bit edgeworn, but attractive. A unique photo album of fishing trips to Yellowstone, Napa, Albion, Point Reyes, San Pablo, and Antioch Bridge dated 1936-1940. The first page (and de facto cover) has a mounted photo of the album's creator (?) surrounded by a stylized drawing of fish and hooks, with following poem in manuscript: "Ode to a Fisherman / Behold the fisherman--he riseth early in the morning-- / Mighty are his preparations-- / He disturbeth the whole household-- / He goeth forth with much gear and much gusto / He cometh home late in the evening--the day is far spent / He smelleth of strong bait and strong drink and, / The truth is not in him."
