A prisoner dressed in stripes can be seen working in the background. Inked note on verso identifies the scene. Logsdon served as assistant warden at Walla Walla at this time, ca 1897-1900. Accompanied by 3.25 x 3.25 in. photograph on 5 x 5 in. mount ink identified on verso as "Clarence Logsdon...Bellingham Chief of Police." Logsdon, whose badge is visible on his jacket, is shown conversing with a gentleman outside a storefront in Whatcom (Bellingham), WA. Logsdon was appointed city marshal of Whatcom in 1902, dating this photograph to 1902 or after.
