Pictorial white cloth boards with paper labels, acetate dust jacket, contents detached from spine and loosely inserted, as is common with this issue, ink transfer from inscription through surrounding leaves, custom cloth chemise and slipcase. PRESENTATION COPY FOR RUTH FORD OF THE VERY SCARCE CLOTH ISSUE, inscribed within an original heart drawing on half title by Malanga to Ruth Ford: "For Ruth on the first day of Spring xo Gerard." Ruth Ford was a centerpiece of New York literary culture, keeping loose court at her home at the Dakota with the likes of Truman Capote, Stephen Sondheim, William Faulkner and Tennessee Williams. WITH: Another, regular issue in publisher's pictorial wrappers, custom cloth chemise and quarter morocco slipcase.
