PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED BY RICHARD WAGNER TO GUSTAVE DORE in the year of the first revised Paris production: "À Gustave Doré son admirateur le plus sincère Richard Wagner " Wagner meet Doré during a visit to Paris in 1860. Doré admired Wagner's work, and intended to illustrated his "Ring der Nibelungen."
