Title within elaborate engraved baroque border,woodcut initials and endpieces, 12 engraved illustrations and 32 portraits (I4 torn without loss, rusthole in L4 touching a few letters, some light mainly marginal spotting, staining and browning). Contemporary vellum (lightly stained, a little bowed). Provenance: unidentified crowned armorial bookplate; copious old annotation to front endpapers; portraits identified in a later hand.
