Firenze, Piatti, 1816. 8vo, 210 x 140 mm; 3 tomes in 5 vols; pp.[10], XII, 277, [3]; pp. 505, [3]; pp. X, XXVI, 268, [2]; pp. 302, [2]; pp. [4], 387, [7], with a portrait of Volta engraved by Raffaello Morghen and 7 folded plates in the end. Specimen in publisher’s paperback in light blue leaves with: Firenze, Angelo Romei, 1858. Stamps of extinct library at the titlepages. Spread foxing.
First and rare edition of the Opere, edited by Florentine patrician Vincenzo Antinori. This collection [which, albeit incompleted, especially for the part about unpublished manuscripts, until 1918 when Hoepli began publishing the national edition was also the only one] contains 67 writings, including those on the electrophoric, on electric meteorology, on the aurora boreale, and on the condenser in vol. I; The various letters and memories on animal electricity, which occupy almost all the 1st part of the II vol .; and the famous letter to Sir J. Banks, president of London R.
