VINCENZO D'ESPOSITO (MALTESE, 1866-1946) Battleship H.M.S. 'Renown'; Torpedo Boat Destroyer 'Cygnet' and two others, a set of three All signed and inscribed 'D'Espostio 1901' (lower corners) Watercolour and gouache 7¼ x 10¾in. (18.5 x 27.5cm.); 6 x 9in. (15.5 x 23cm.) (4) Renown was a 2nd Class battleship commissioned June 1897 was nicknamed the 'battleship yacht' as she served as a Royal Yacht for a tour of India in 1902-3, and latterly as 'subsidiary yacht' for state guests. She also was used by the Prince of Wales at the Diamond Jubilee Spithead Review; Cygnet was a 30-knot destroyer built in 1899 by Thornycroft in Chiswick, broken up in 1920.
