VIKING SILVER BRIDLE FITTING PAIR 10th-11th century AD A matching pair of cast silver cheek-pieces from a horse's bridle, each with the upper end formed as a D-section bar with ropework terminal and transverse ribbed decoration; to the centre a square-section bulb with two lateral holes and below this a D-section bar with incised herringbone pattern to the outer face, curving forward for the lower third; the finial a polyhedral block. 64 grams total, 9.5cm each (3 3/4" each).
