FIRST EDITION. From their main nursery in Chelsea, the Veitch family ran the largest group of plant nurseries in Britain in the 19th century. James Vietch, the fifth generation of plant collectors and horticulturists, ran the nursery until his early death in 1907. This work includes 1,500 plants, as well as biographies of "plant hunters" working around the world in the family's employ.
