VARIOUS ARTISTS L'ASSIETTE AU BEURRE. Group of 9 bound volumes and 3 portfolios of loose issues. 1901-1911. Sizes vary, each issue approximately 12x9 inches, 30 1/2x23 cm. Condition varies, generally B+. An extensive, incomplete run of the influential French satirical magazine. Profusely illustrated in both black and white and color, the periodical featured, and highlighted, the work of such well known artists as Hermann Paul, A. Roubille, Leonetto Cappiello Jules Cheret, Jules-Alexandre Grün Jossot, Frantisek Kupka, Paul Iribe Theophile-Alexandre Steinlen, Orazi, Adrien Barrère Poulbot, H. G. Ibels, Kees van Dongen Jacques Villon Felix Vallotton, Juan Gris and many, many others. Nothing was sacred as far as content, and topics covered included crime, economics, leisure, travel, politics, current events, international relations, religion, health and the Press.
