Rare map oriented to the East. Pastoureau, without mentioning the date, records this map first in the 'Theatre de France' of 1632. According to Fordham (in: Phillips, Geograph. Atlases no. 5222/89) one of the earliest dated maps engraved by T., published "in connection with the military movements during the reign of Louis XII... over the question of the possession of the Valteline." - Uncol. Cleaned and sized, still light occasional spotting. 4 slight vertical folds; a few small repaired marginal tears at top and at bottom.
