Provenance : Jacobus Florellus Venenis (ownership inscription, dated 1680, on title). FIRST EDITION of Valiero's history of the twenty-five year war between Venice and Turkey in Crete which ended in the surrender of the whole island to the Turks in 1669. The author informs us that he himself had fought at the sea-battle off the Dardanelles in 1646. An illustrated edition was published in 1845-46. Vinciana 638; Blackmer 1710.
