Valencia: The Widow of Joseph de Orga, 1759. 4 o (282 x 200 mm). Engraved vignette on title-page, full-page engraved coat-of-arms, by PASQUAL MOLES, 4 engraved plates (one folding) by PASQUAL CUCò and CARLO FRANCIA, and 2 engraved vignettes in text. Quarter roan, marbled boards (edges worn). The festivities held to celebrate the entrance of CHARLES III, newly crowned King of Spain, into Valencia in 1759. The spectacle included the illumination of numerous public buildings in the city, ornate decorations of apparati , tapestries, and statuary, fireworks, and a procession, here described in great detail. Ollèr y Bono provides explanations of the attire of the participants and identifies the various local guilds like the ropemakers, the cobblers, and the milliners. The plates illustrate the elaborate embellishments and pomp around the city, as well as the procession. Palau 201320.
