Connecticut's militia variant of the common M1851 dress cap prescribed under the state's 1856 dress regulations. New York retailer John A. Baker worked at the 162 Fulton Street address from 1853-1858. An identical Company C.. specimen is housed in the Smithsonian Institution collection. The cap is also well documented in ante-bellum photography. Condition: Very good; all leather shows some crazing and age wear.
