Beschreibung:

.303 British, 28" barrel, s/n 14327. Blued finish, pistol gripped walnut stock. Crisp US inspection marks behind triggerguard. Canadian issue marks on obverse butt. Includes original Ross bayonet (not US marked) and scabbard that is US marked. Some 20,000 Ross Rifles and Ross Mk1 Rifles were acquired by the US Ordnance Department in late 1917 for training purposes, as sufficient quantities of M-1903 Springfield rifles were not available for those purposes. The guns were withdrawn after about a year of service. US marked examples remain a scarce secondary US rifle from the Great War period. Condition: Very Good. Rifle retains some trace finish, with a faded blue-gray patina over most of the metal. Mechanically functional, good bore that needs to be cleaned. Stock crisp with clear marks and scattered bumps and dings. Stock has one small repair just forward of the lever that depresses the cartridge lifter, with a small piece of wood added. Bayonet very fine, scabbard very good, with US marks slightly weak.
