Information for Campaign Chairman Author: Place: New York Publisher: Date: 1942 Description: 12 pp. Profusely illustrated from photographs of Generalissimo and Madame Chiang Kai-shek and prominent supporters of the organization (Pearl Buck, Wendell Willkie, Lin Yutang, Edgar Snow, John D. Rockefeller Jr., Mayor Laguardia, et al); of Relief publications (including posters) and activities. 14x12", original white wrappers with red Chinese ideographs on front cover. United China Relief was founded in 1941, ten months before Pearl Harbor, as an umbrella organization for American organizations sending medical and social welfare aid to China during its battle with the Japanese invaders. This rare handbook for local chairmen was issued in advance of the second annual “China Week”, a “major promotion, publicity and fund-raising campaign” for the organization, which would continue throughout World War II until the start of the Chinese civil war. Internal publications of the Relief organization are scarce. Lot Amendments Condition: Vertical crease, light finger soiling; very good. Item number: 248721
