Ilir Zefi (Mirdite 1963) Body and Soul Oil on canvas 152x122 cm. Born in Mirdite (Albania), he trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana where he began exhibiting in various group exhibitions since the end of the 1980s (1988, 1989, 1990) and where he made his first solo show in 1991. He moved to Rome in the early 1990s and began exhibiting in various group exhibitions (1992, Galleria La Tartaruga; 1995, Galleria Lazzari; 1996, Galleria Because I love you; 1997, Paura, Galleria ILA; 1999, Festival delle Interculture, Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions), then the first solo show in 1998 at the Opera Cultural Association of Rome. In 2000 Marco Tonelli curated his personal exhibition at the Lombardi Gallery in Rome and exhibited at the Space Art Gallery in Tucson (Arizona, U.S.A.); then followed by personal exhibitions in Amsterdam (2003, Galerie Rudolfv) and Milan (2006, Galleria Rubin). In 2008 again Marco Tonelli presents the Crash! at the Galleria Russo in Rome, followed the following year by Jazz Painting, curated by Marco Di Capua, at the Galleria Russo :: Asso di Quadri in Milan. In 2011, organized again by the Russo Gallery, he created the performance with music and painting PaintingJazz-In 'at the Sala Santa Rita in Rome. In 2011 the personal The beat of painting at the Robert Kanana Gallery in Toronto (Canada) and in spring 2012 Ilir Zefi Paint in action set up by the Russo Gallery at the Angelica-Galleria Angelica Library in Rome. In 2005 he was invited to exhibit at the XIV Quadriennale in Rome curated by Marco Tonelli. The group shows include The colors of Albania at the National Gallery of Fine Arts in Tirana (2004), the Summer Group Show at the Rubin Gallery in Milan (2008) and in 2009 the exhibition at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo (New York, USA). He also took part in the most important national and international fairs: Kunst Zürich (2007), ArteFiera Bologna (2007, 2008, 2009), Art Verona (2009), MiArt (2008), Scope Art Show New York (2008).
