MAINE/DESTROYED IN HAVANA HARBOR/FEBRUARY 15TH, 1898., and along the base THIS TABLET IS CAST FROM METAL RECOVERED FROM THE U.S.S. MAINE., marked on the back C. KECK and numbered 341, ht. 12 3/4, wd. 17 5/8 in. Provenance: The collection of the Valley Forge Historical Society. Note: The lot includes copies of the original correspondence with the historical society and the Navy regarding the purchase of the piece.
