U.S. Army requisition for stationery signed by William Badger, quartermaster at Fort Lincoln from time when Custer's 7th Cavalry was stationed there Author: Place: Standing Rock Publisher: Date: 1874 Description: U.S. Army Stationery Requisition form. 22.1x28 cm (8¾x11"): in Optium Museum Acrylic glass frame: 26x31.8 cm (10¼x12½"). paneled with acrylic glass at reverse of frame revealing print and writing on reverse of leaf. Signed by William Badger. Requisitioned were 5 quires letter paper, 25 official envelopes, bottles of black and red ink, 20 steel pens, and one lead pencil. Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer and his wife, Libbie, lived on Fort Abraham Lincoln from 1873 until Custer died at the Battle of the Little Big Horn in the summer of 1876. Approximately 500 troops were also stationed there. Lot Amendments Condition: A few small burn holes, minor splits at mail folds, toning to leaf, a few minor spots; unexamined out of frame. Lots sold without reserve are sold “as Is” and are not returnable under any circumstances.
