THE FIRST EDO PERIOD (19TH CENTURY), THE SECOND MUROMACHI PERIOD (16TH CENTURY)
TWO tanto THE FIRST EDO PERIOD (19TH CENTURY), THE SECOND MUROMACHI PERIOD (16th CENTURY) The first a mumei shinshinto tanto with partial mune oroshi , length 15.7cm, itame nagare hada with ko-maru boshi , silver clad habaki , in a fine aikuchi koshirae with saya and tsuka of black lacquer with horizontal striations and fine shell nashiji , the fine matching silver mounts simulating straw or twigs; the second a mounted koto tanto with hirazukuri blade of length 19.6cm, on the omote a suken horimono extending into a narrowing bohi , on the ura a bohi extending into futasujibi, itame nagare hada, gunome midare hamon with much sunagashi and kinsuji , in an aikuchi koshirae with black cloud design on a red lacquer ground, complete nine metal fittings of iron with stylized linked curved star patterns in gold inlay, with menuki of chickens in shakudo , signature obscured (?) Hisa , Muromachi Period (16th Century) (2)
