Two pseudonymous sporting books, finely bound Author: Place: London Publisher: Various publishers Date: Various dates Description: 2 Volumes. One Illustrated with 13 engraved plates by Henry Alken; plus stipple-engraved frontispiece portrait of author by D. Maclise. 22.5x14.5 cm (8¾x5¾"), rebound by Zaehnsdorf in in full red crushed morocco, ruled and decorated in gilt, raised bands, four sports vignettes tooled in gilt; gilt dentelles, red silk endpapers; top edge gilt. Both included volumes have bookplate of Edward Motley Weld: Apperley, Charles J. "Nimrod". The Chace, The Turf, and The Road. First Edition. 1837. (Rubbing to side of spine and front hinge starting). Bindley, Charles. "Harry Hieover". Sporting Facts and Sporting Fancies. 1853. (Binding misspells Bindley as Brindley). Lot Amendments Condition: Rubbing with flaking to corners of boards; occasional foxing throughout volumes; one volume near fine, other very good. Lots sold without reserve are sold “as Is” and are not returnable under any circumstances.
