Two lacquer boxes Edo period (19th century) Comprising a square lacquer box with openwork on each side, decorated in gold and black hiramaki-e with flower scrolls, opening to reveal four lidded boxes and three triangular trays lacquered in red, fitted with incised copper mounts; and a carved and lacquered-wood suzuribako with Chinese immortals enjoying the scenery of a lotus pond beneath a pine tree, the interior decorated in gold, red and black hiramaki-e and takamaki-e with dancers in butterfly costumes on a nashiji ground 7in.
