Lot of 2: Folk art carved pipe, small to medium size, wood medium to dark brown in color, possibly laurel root. Overall width 2.75 inches. Bowl height 2 inches. Bowl dia. 1.5 inches. Entire perimeter of bowl (on its upper two thirds) relief carved. Center with circular wreath and small recessed panel with relief carved initials in center CHB. On either side of the wreath a very large American flag on pole (each extending about half way to the sides). With pair of crossed cannon barrels over a pair of crossed swords carved in relief beside each flag pole. Lower third of bowl and underside with simple fluted motifs. Octagon shaped shank. Light surface wear. Very high relief carved folk art pipe, wood medium to dark brown, possibly laurel root. Max height approx. 2.75 inches; max. width approx. 3.5 inches. Outside diameter at top of bowl almost 2 inches. Front very high relief carved with full eagle, wings downward; with a very large American flag on a pole at each side (slanted) of the eagle. Both the edge of the bowl and the small edge shank relief carved with a very jagged / pointed relief ring. One side of shank (below the jagged border) high relief carved 1861, and opposite side carved 1864. Relief fluted designs along under section. Small crack in rim of shank that partially extends into shank's body. Few small surface cracks that may be original to pipe. Few slight abrasions in higher relief carved elements. Provenance: Property of N. Flayderman & Co. Condition: Each pipe in very good condition overall considering age and use.
