Two albums of black and white photographs of India, c.1885-1903, to include images of notable landmarks, temples and monuments including Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Amber, Sikri, a group of photographs at the rear of one album showing the Governor of Bombay's Camp, Delhi Coronation Durbar, December to January 1902-1903, with handwritten key of attendees, mostly 21.6 x 28cm, main album 55 images, second album inscribed in ink 'J.E. Down, Photos when stationed in Bijapur 1885', mostly 21 x 15.8cm, 32 images James E Down (1851-1934) was born in Karachi and educated in England. In Bombay in 1871, having spent five months learning Hindustani, he was appointed Assistant District Superintendent of Police in the Dandeish District, finally becoming Inspector General for the Bombay presiden
