TRUMPER (VICTOR) 1913, sepia gelatin silver print portrait batting stance photograph for his Testimonial match, 15.5 x 10.5 cm, framed and glazed Originally taken during Trumpers second tour of England in 1902, when he was 25 years old, this photograph was used when a few copies were produced for participants and officials in Trumper's Testimonial match. The game was played at Sydney Cricket Gound 7-11 February 1913 between Trumper's team, New South Wales, captained by himself and the Rest (Australia), captained by Clem Hill. THE PHOTOGRAPH WAS SIGNED ON THE SECOND DAY'S PLAY, 8 FEBRUARY, BY THE REST, COMPRISING CLEM HILL, WARWICK ARMSTRONG, JACK RYDER, EDGAR MAYNE, G.C.CAMPBELL, V.S.RANSFORD, A.G.MOYES, J.N.CRAWFORD, L.A.CODY, T.J.MATTHEWS AND W.J.WHITTY. Charles Bannerman umpired the match. Trumper scored an unbeaten 126 in his first innings and 61 in his second, the game fittingly ending in a draw. The match raised £2950, a record in Australia to that time. Provenance: Indistinct pencil signature on verso 'Wm.Da...ing'
