Sixth plate tintype of mustached Civil War soldier prominently displaying his sword, his cap, buttons, and sword handle highlighted in gold, housed in thermoplastic case (Berg 1-54, Crossed Cannon). Few scratches in plate. Image a little dark, but details/contrast still good. Velvet interior of case no longer present. Few chips in case. Ninth plate ruby ambrotype portrait of a young man displaying his pistol, possibly a civilian wearing a forage cap, taken by the “Great Daguerreotype Depot, Cincinnati, Tyler & Co. Proprietors and Originators of the Invention by which Eight Hundred Portraits are daily executed, three taken at a pop. Portraits 25 Cents.” Housed in a full leather case poorly repaired at spine. Image with some scratches, some spotting.
