Lot of 3, including: Octagonal sixth plate tintype of Civil War soldier proudly displaying his rifle, with elements of his uniform highlighted in gold. Housed in a thermoplastic case (Berg 3-205, Geometric) by A.P. Critchlow & Co. Image in very good condition overall. Case in very good condition. Sixth plate tintype of mustached Civil War soldier prominently displaying his sword, his cap, buttons, and sword handle highlighted in gold, housed in thermoplastic case (Berg 1-54, Crossed Cannon). Few scratches in plate. Image a little dark, but details/contrast still good. Velvet interior of case no longer present. Few chips in case. Ninth plate ruby ambrotype portrait of a young man displaying his pistol, possibly a civilian wearing a forage cap, taken by the “Great Daguerreotype Depot, Cincinnati, Tyler & Co. Proprietors and Originators of the Invention by which Eight Hundred Portraits are daily executed, three taken at a pop. Portraits 25 Cents.” Housed in a full leather case poorly repaired at spine. Image with some scratches, some spotting.
