Handwritten tosefet ketubah, with colored ornamentation (text framed with floral illustrations), of a Moroccan Jewish couple, who wed in Marrakesh (Morocco) in 1829, and in 1857 approached the Beit Din in Alexandria (Egypt) requesting to rewrite their ketubah and to add a sum of money to the total written in the original ketubah. Signed by three dayanim: R. Natan Amram, R. Shlomo Shabtai and R. Yisrael Anhori. Also signed by the husband, "Yosef Ye'oshua Chaim Shoshana". Alexandria (Egypt), Sivan 1857. Unique text, opening like a Maase Beit Din deed, followed by a copy of the original ketubah, after which appears the tosefet ketubah. The name of the bride is Yocheved daughter of R. Moshe son of R. Masoud HaLevi. The celebrated R. Natan Amram (1791-1871), author of Kinyan Peirot, Kinyan HaGuf and Noam HaMidot, was born in Damascus to R. Chaim Amram, author of Mitaam HaMelech. In 1805, he immigrated with his father to Safed, and from 1826 travelled as an emissary of the Tiberias and Hebron kollels, first to Alexandria, Egypt, and later to the communities of Turkey and Greece. During these years of travel, he printed some of his and his father's books. Eventually, he returned to Egypt and served there as dayan. After the death of Rabbi Yisrael Moshe Chazan in 1863, he was appointed his successor as Av Beit Din and Chief Rabbi of Alexandria. [1] leaf. 35 cm. Good condition. Stains. Minor tears to folding marks.
