Comprising: 27 original drawings, many worked into with color, some in brown toned colored perncil. Includes the original illustration of a young woman used on the dust-jacket and cover, many portraits of young people, and some vignettes of buildings (varying sizes, largest: 400 x 250 mm). All matted. “I saw your face in Benin/ and in Ghana near Takoradi./ Then there on the plains of Bahia/ your gentle eyes said hi.” Published posthumously in 2005, I Saw Your Face collects drawings of young people created by Feelings during his various travels both at home and around the world The published book has fine poetry by Kwame Dawes and a personal afterword by Feelings’ close friend and fellow artist, Jerry Pinkney “His drawings are so well crafted that at first glance one is not aware of the line, but is lead directly into the humanity of his subjects.
