(9x7½"), early marbled boards, newer endpapers. First Edition. "This famous treatise... was at first intended to bear a title indicating a study of the fauna of King George's dominions in North America. However, about this time the American colonies separated from the mother country, and the author adopted the above rather misleading caption." -- Wood. "Pennant also had a talent for observation and organization. He was able to combine his own observations with information from Thomas Hutchins, Ashton Blackburn, Alexander Garden, Benjamin Smith Barton, and Peter Simon Pallas, and thus to produce his classic work, 'Arctic Zoology.'"
