Beschreibung:

Tiffany Studios Bronze and Leaded Glass Spider Table Lamp Circa 1910 The domed shade with an irregular lower rim and protruding spider body with a cobweb design, in semi-translucent mottled green, amber and white colored glass, raised on a standard modeled as a naturalistic inverted mushroom, spider shaped pierced heat cap, shade stamped 337-46 TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK ; base stamped TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK 337. Height 17 3/4 inches; height of shade 5 7/8 inches, diameter 15 1/4 inches. Provenance: This lamp has descended in the same family through successive generations since it was first acquired in the early 20th century. Doyle sold a rare pair of Tiffany Studios enameled copper jars from this same collection, Belle Epoque: 19th and 20th Century Decorative Arts Including Tiffany Studios Glass and Bronze , February 25 and 26, 2004, lots 867 and 868. C
Shade: appears to be ever so slightly out of round, i.e., it measures 15 1/4 inches across in one direction and 15 1/8 inches across in another direction, quite probably as made; there are few small individual glass segments that have tight hairline cracks, perhaps a half dozen; no apparent or obvious signs of restoration to the shade or replacement to any of the glass segments; other glass segments have "straw marks," as made and although they may take n the appearance of being hairline cracks they are not and this is not a condition matter (not of any consequence) Base: appears to be in generally good condition; typical wear and rubbing to patina, particularly, to the shaft where the lamp would be handled for lifting or moving; one of the small screws that secures the base plate at the bottom is now missing; there is a green felt protective piece of fabric now affixed to the bottom and the fabric is partially detached; two of the light sockets are much newer replacements; none of the sockets appear to be original and they each have a later metal key-shaped on/off switch; lamp is currently wired; cord is a later replacement; light sockets and wire not tested; pierced metal spider heat cap appears to be authentic and original
