THREE DIMENSIONAL EC CLASSICS No. 1 Author: Place: Publisher: Entertaining Comics Date: 1954 Description: VG (4.0). A beautiful copy that would grade Fine/VF (7.0) or better except for a 3" tear to the back cover. Both pairs of glasses still bound in. Cream to off-white pages. Kurtzman cover. Art by Wood, Krigstein, Evans, Ingels. The 3-D comics fad started in July, 1953, with the release of Three Dimension Comics #1 (featuring Mighty Mouse). Within the next year or so, a total of fifty different 3-D comics would be produced to cash in on the craze. By the time EC released its two 3-D mags in 1954, the craze had pretty much run its course. Both books had small print runs (approx. 300,000 each), and both sold poorly. The voluptuous vampiress in Wally Wood's "V-Vampires!" is said to be the only woman in all fifty 1950s 3-D comics to require an extra plane for her bust (Source for possibly apocryphal 3D bust tidbit: 3dfilmarchive.com). PBA Grading Guarantee: Any individual comic book lot (not group lots) graded by PBA is guaranteed to match CGC grading. If the buyer chooses to have the comic CGC certified and that certification is lower than PBA’s, the lot may be returned for a full refund of the sales price (hammer price plus buyer’s premium). See terms and conditions for details. Consignments Accepted for PBA's Next Comic Book Auction. Golden Age, Silver Age, Pre-Code, Original Art, Interesting Ephemera Sought. Contact ivan@pbagalleries.com for details. March 26th Comic Book Sale catalogues available. Supplies Limited. Softcover catalogues limited to 200 copies ($45 + $5 postage/handling).
