3 vol. in 2, engraved titles, half-titles, contents list and dedications, 3 allegorical plates, of which 2, Cupid and Flora, coloured, portrait of Linnaeus in Lapland dress, 25 other portraits, 92 uncoloured botanical plates and tables, the vast majority the former, and 27 coloured plates only, mixed-method engravings, part-printed in colours and finished by hand, each average 430 x 560mm., last states if not single states, some watermarked H. Smith 1809 or 1810, some surface dirt and slight browning, mostly marginal, offsetting to The Snowdrop, The China Limodoron, and The Blue Egyptian Water-lily, a loss to the upper right corner of The Nodding Renealmia, within the plate but outside the image, a soft vertical crease to The Indian Reed, the portraits and uncoloured botanical plates also with slight browning and spotting, mostly marginal, some with pale damp-staining to the right side, occasional creasing and a few short marginal tears, the titles and preliminary leaves of each vol. with more extensive surface dirt and creasing, some with tears and losses at edges, disbound within contemporary gilt-tooled full morocco boards, worn, preserved in 2 modern cloth solander boxes folio, [Nissen 1955; Dunthorne 301], T. Bensley, [1799]-1807-[10].
