Original cloth-backed boards, paper spine label (spine lightly toned); publisher's board slipcase (few splits along joints). Provenance : David ? (presentation inscription). FIRST EDITION, LIMITED ISSUE, number 139 of 150 copies signed by Thomas, this the American issue with no imprint on the title. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY THOMAS on the front free endpaper: "With love & affection from Dylan to David 1950. [Sketch of a skyscraper] NY." According to Rolph: "The exact publication date in U.S.A. is not recorded, but the American issue undoubtedly preceded the English issue by about three months, appearing towards the end of the second week in May 1950." The 10 copies on Japanese vellum probably preceded these by about two days. Rolph B13b. [ With: ] THOMAS, Dylan. Autograph manuscript, transcription of his poem "A Refusal to Mourn the Death, By Fire, of a Child In London." 1¼ pages, 8 o, lined paper, written on rectos only, some light soiling.
