This copy with the "C" not omitted from the date in the colophon. (Minor soiling to H8v, M1r and first and last few leaves, occasional faint marginal dampstaining, 2 or 3 tiny marginal wormholes in last 2 quires.) Late 19th-century half vellum, preserving a few deckle edges. Provenance : Johannes Baptista Samaragi or Samarago (17th or 18th-century signature) -- Aggio Santo Antonio (17th or 18th-century inscription on upper edge) and circular stamp with initials "SAA" and cross. -- Ned Nakles (sold Christie's New York, 17 April 2000, lot 135). Probable second edition and first Italian edition of most of these philosophical and theological works, some now known to be spurious. An undated edition of the same compilation plus a few additional works, printed in the Southern Netherlands but of uncertain attribution, is given priority. The editor, Paulus Barbus of Soncino, a friend of Pico della Mirandola, taught philosophy at Milan and later became prior of the Dominican convent at Cremona. This edition is the last of 10 published jointly by the d'Onate brothers. On his own Joannes d'Onate produced over 80 editions in Milan from 1477 to 1495, mainly legal texts, of which approximately a third on commission for the publishing concern of Petrus Antonius de Castelliano.
