PARIS: IMPRIMERIE IMPÉRIALE, 1855 folio (445 x 302mm.), limited edition of 103 copies, copy number 9 presented by the French Emperor to King Pedro V of Portugal, Latin text with chromolithographed decoration heightened with gold, in the style of fifteenth-century Italian manuscript decoration with illuminated initials and marginal decoration, French text with 4 lithographed plates and black-and-white decoration, contemporary green morocco elaborately gilt with azured arabesque decoration, central circular brass panel on each cover with Napoleonic arms in relief in metal, spine gilt in compartments, pink watered silk endleaves with the arms of Portugal stamped inside each cover, gilt edges, occasional light foxing, spine chipped at foot, binding slightly rubbed and stained, upper joint repaired at head and foot
