Lot of 13 octagonal sixth and ninth plate union cases housing portraits of children. Majority of cases bear geometric designs, including a "Rare" example with gold paint [Berg 3-402G]. Also with one "Very Rare" figural design, Angel in the Chariot [1-88]. Portraits consist of three sixth plate daguerreotypes, three ninth plate daguerreotypes, two sixth plate tintypes, and five ninth plate tintypes. Images of note include a sixth plate daguerreotype of a husband and wife posed with their squirming baby [1-88], an endearing sixth plate daguerreotype of a father holding his young daughter on his lap, a ninth plate daguerreotype of two affectionately posed brothers, and a sixth plate tintype of a chubby baby playing with a toy horse and what appears to be a Staffordshire dog figurine, with a parent's hand stabilizing the baby's head.
