Author: Poe, Edgar Allan Place: New York Publisher: J.S. Redfield Date: 1850 Description: The first three volumes of a four volume set, of which the last two volumes were issued separately. Comprises: Vol. I: Tales. [2], xx, 483 pp. (blank preceding half-title not present, as often occurs). Engraved frontispiece portrait. Vol. II: Poems and Miscellanies. The Literati: Some Honest Opinions about Autorial Meries and Demerits, with Occasional Words of Personality. Together with Marginalia, Suggestions, and Essays. Together, 3 volumes 17.5x10.5 (6¾x4¾"), uniform later green buckram, spines lettered in gilt. First Collected Editions, second printings. The first two volumes were issued together, with the third volume coming out later the same year. A fourth volume, not present here, was subsequently published in 1856. Three volume sets are not uncommon. BAL 16158 and 16159. With ink ownership signatures of E.M. Jenkins; bookplates of Minnie Jenkins. Lot Amendments Condition: Some minor rubbing to covers, minor internal aging, about very good. Item number: 267337
