Illustrated with gravure frontispieces from photographs, drawings, paintings, etc. 8¼x5¼, ¾ gilt-ruled green levant morocco & cloth, spines tooled and lettered in gilt, raised bands, top edges gilt. No. 49 of 504 copies. Autographed Avalon Edition. Signed by Van Dyke beneath his frontispiece portrait in Vol. I; signed Charles Scribner's Sons on the limitation-page. Some of the gravure frontispieces are signed by the artists, including N.C. Wyeth (2), Frank Schoonover, Frank V. DuMond, W.T. Benda, and L. Arlent Edwards. A handsome set. Lot Amendments Condition: Slight fading to some of the spines; near fine to fine. Item number: 175049
