A.A. Milne's very fine copy of the deluxe Arthur Rackham edition of Wind in the Willows. One of 500 copies of the deluxe issue, on handmade paper. This "100th edition" is also the first U.K. Arthur Rackham edition. The introduction is by Milne and the limitation leaf is inscribed, "a presentation copy to A.A. Milne Esq. Out of the series." Milne's admiration for Wind in the Willows was profound; he even took it on himself to adapt the story for the stage and produced Toad of Toad Hall in 1929.
Quarto (298 x 236mm). Half title. Illustrated by Arthur Rackham including 12 color plates. Partially unopened. Original cream calf, top edges gilt, others uncut (a little pale staining to calf); original board slipcase with paper printed label (light rubbing). Provenance: A.A. Milne, author, 1882-1956 (presentation inscription).
