Author: Falconer,William Place: London Publisher: Printed for William Miller by T. Bensley Date: 1804 Description: [2] leaves, xlvi, [1] leaf, 220 pp. Illustrated with 3 engraved plates and 5 vignettes by N. Pockock. 9¼x5¼, period full red straight-grained morocco spine lettered in gilt, gilt inner dentelles, all edges gilt. "A New Edition." Presentation copy inscribed "with the publisher's respectful compliments." First published in 1762 "The Shipwreck" was reprinted many times. This large edition adorned with exquisite engravings by marine painter Nicholas Pokock. Lot Amendments Condition: Spine darkened, well rubbed, corners and edges rubbed; front hinge cracked, very good or better. Item number: 175158
