the black lacquered eighteen plate iron bowl of akoda-nari form, the central front and back plates with copper-gilt shinodare [ornamental strips], terminating in a four-stage copper and copper-gilt tehen kanamono of typical chrysanthemum form, plain black lacquer mabisashi [peak], the fukigaeshi [turnbacks] similarly decorated and applied with copper-gilt maru ni ogi mon [encircled fan crests], the copper-gilt fukurin [ornamental border] chased and engraved with foliate scrolls on a nanako ground, four-tiered black lacquer Hineno-jikoro [close-fitted neck guard] with kebiki odoshi [close-spaced lacing] in blue braid, the gold and black lacquered circular maedate [forecrest] applied with copper-gilt myoga mon [ginger crests], the russet iron ho-ate [half mask] with red lacquer interior, three-tiered yodaregake [throat protector] laced in matching braid
The bowl to peak: 29.4 cm., 11½ in. The shikoro to peak: 34 cm., 13⅜ in. The ho-ate: 16.3 cm., 6⅜ in. wide
