Appleton & Co Date: 1894 Description: Large octavo; publisher's green cloth boards, lettered in gilt on spine; xviii; 1079; (15)pp. Third printing. Ownership inscription inside front cover (Charles Harbaugh, M.D.) dated in year of publication. Exceedingly fresh copy in the original binding of the most influential medical textbook of the 19th century. Principles went into eight editions during Osler's lifetime; early printings are uncommon in any decent state of preservation. The owner of this copy, Charles Harbaugh, was a pioneer in the field of actuarial science and authored the first standard textbook on the subject (Causes of Disability as Applied Under Accident and Health Insurance Policies. NY:1909). Donated by Lorne Bair Rare Books, Winchester, VA. Lot Amendments Condition: Mild external wear. Item number: 270074
