The Premier Engraver after Andrea Mantegna ( circa 1431-1506) Hercules and Antaeus (B. 16; Martineau 93) engraving, circa 1497, on laid paper, a strong but damaged impression, trimmed to the central subject, with several splits and small paper losses, laid down; with The Entombment (B. 3; M. 40), a reversed copy, probably by Giovanni Antonio da Brescia , engraving, circa 1509, trimmed into the subject, several thin spots and paper splits, laid down on Japan paper; The Elephants from The Triumph of Caesar (B. 12; M. 118), possibly by Giulio Campagnola ; The Entombment with the three Birds , apparently an unrecorded copy after G. A. da Brescia's version of the subject (cf. B. 2-A; M. 30), on 18th century laid paper, trimmed to the subject, some foxing; and a copy of The Battle of the Seagods (B. 18-A; Holl. 55 II; cf. M. 79) by Daniel Hopfer , all after Mantegna, in varying condition S. 275 x 195 mm. (B. 16) (5)
