Title: The Philosophy of Andy Warhol (From A to B and Back Again) - inscribed with additional material Author: Warhol, Andy Place: New York Publisher: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich Date: [1975] Description: Red cloth-backed yellow boards, dust jacket. First Edition, second printing (with "A" not present in letter line on copyright-page). Inscribed by Warhol to Lawrence Vollmer in red ink on the half-title, from bottom to top: "To Lawrence V. Andy," with a small sketch of a soup can; he has also initialed "aw" in black ink. Accompanied by the British edition in jacket of Victor Bockris' biography "Warhol" with 9-line ink inscription to Vollmer on the title-page along with 3-page T.L.s. from Bockris to Vollmer, discussing the biography and thanking him for assistance. Warhol worked for Lawrence Vollmer at Horne's Department Store in Pittsburgh, and Vollmer was the only person from Pittsburgh whom Warhol acknowledged as an inspiration to him (see p. 71 of the Bockris biography). A superb association copy. Lot Amendments Condition: Philosophy with foxing to page edges, a bit of rubbing to top and bottom cover edges; near fine to fine, as are the other book and letter.
